I am a teacher and literary scholar at Duke University researching late medieval literature and culture.
My book project, The Sign of Labour: Craft, Symbol, and Theology in Late Medieval England, explores the sudden blooming of labourers into complex religious symbols in the century following the Black Plague (1348). An article from this project is forthcoming in Studies in Philology, summer 2026.
As a teacher of medieval and early modern literature, I emphasize the vivacious, global nature of these periods. As a teacher of writing I draw on several years of professional experience in digital communications, journalism, and editing.
Other areas of expertise include creative writing, theology and literature, eco-criticism, hermeneutics, Dante studies, and the overlap between mystical and literary texts in the 14th and 15th c.
